William Anthony Philip Court was born in Leicester on 13 May 1912. He was educated at Kimbolton School and Selwyn College, Cambridge. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers in 1935 and promoted a Lieutenant in 1936 and was an Acting Captain in 1939 and War Substantive Captain and Acting Major in 1941. He served with the Egyptian Army, 1938-41 and was mentioned in despatches (London Gazette 30 December 1941) for his services in the Middle East. Court was ranked as an Acting Lieutenant-Colonel 1941-42, promoted to Major in 1946; Acting Lieutenant-Colonel 1952-54 and was promoted to that rank in 1954. He was employed as an Instructor O.C.T.U. 1944-45; S.O.2 War Office 1945-46; D.A.Q.M.G. Canal North District, Egypt, 1947-48; D.A.Q.M.G. War Office 1950-52. He was C.R.E. in Cyrenaica in 1956, then spent six weeks during the Suez operations as C.R.E. at Port Said; later still he was C.R.E. in the B.A.O.R. Lieutenant-Colonel Court retired from the service in 1959 and died in 1977. With copied research.
