M.I.D. London Gazette 26 April 1918. ‘.... in recognition of their services at Dunkirk’. ‘C.P.O., 3rd Gr. (E.), William Charles Reeves, O.N. F3123’ Recommendation states, ‘For great zeal and ability displayed in his duty’.

William Charles Reeves was born on 15 May 1892 at Horsham, Sussex. A Chauffeur by occupation, he enlisted into the Royal Naval Air Service on 18 January 1915. He served in France/Flanders, April-September 1915; February 1917-February 1918, and March 1918-January 1919. With the R.N.A.S. he was based at
Pembroke III, January -February 1915; President II (Armoured Cars), February 1915-January 1918 and Daedalus (Dunkirk) February 1918-March 1918, after which he was transferred to the R.A.F. Reeves was transferred to the R.A.F. Reserve on 25 February 1919 and discharged on 30 April 1920. On 30 December 1918, Chief Mechanic Reeves, then serving with No. 209 Squadron, was recommended for the M.S.M. With copied service papers and gazette extracts.
