Francis William Otto Thomas Evans was born in Montreal, Canada, on 31 January 1884. A Printer’s Labourer by occupation, he enlisted into the Chatham Division of the R.M.L.I. on 13 January 1902. He was discharged on 29 January 1909 and was enrolled in the R.F.R. With the onset of the Great War, he was serving on the old battleship Magnificent, July 1914-February 1915, after which he served aboard the 1st Class cruiser Royal Arthur, February 1915-January 1917. Evans was finally demobilised on 28 January 1919 and was awarded a war gratuity of £26. With copied service paper.
