Alfred W. Lee was born in Peckham, London. A Carman (?) by occupation, he attested for short service with the Lancers of the Line, at London, on 18 January 1900, aged 18 years, 10 months. Posted to the 12th Lancers, he served in South Africa, March 1901-October 1902, and in India, October 1902-November 1907. Returning home, he was transferred to the Army Reserve in January 1908 and discharged on the termination of his first period of engagement, 17 January 1912. With copied service papers.
