Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 2 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State (4124 Pte. F. Allum, 3rd Dgn. Gds.) suspension slack, minor edge bruising, very fine £60-80

Frederick Allum was born in Coventry. A Machinist by occupation and a member of the 5th Battalion Warwickshire Regiment, he attested for the Dragoons at Coventry on 1 November 1898, aged 19 years, 8 months. Posted to the 3rd Dragoon Guards, he served in South Africa, January-October 1901. He was transferred to the Army Reserve on 1 November 1905 and was finally discharged on 31 October 1910.

Sold with copied service papers which show clasp entitlement as ‘Cape Colony’, ‘Orange Free State’ and ‘South Africa 1901’, and that he suffered a ‘Contusion (R. ankle) 1.5.99’; Wound (Left foot) 15.2.02’, and ‘Wound (head) 25.7.03’.
