King’s South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps (4957 Pte. A. Rustage, Manch. Regt.) very fine £50-70

Arthur Rustage was born in Manchester. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for service with the Manchester Regiment on 20 October 1896, aged 18 years, 8 months. With the 1st Battalion he served in Gibraltar, November 1897-August 1899 and South Africa, August 1899-October 1902. For his service in the Boer War War he was awarded the Queen’s Medal with clasps for Elandslaagte, Defence of Ladysmith and Belfast, and the King’s Medal with two clasps. Rustage was twice convicted by Field General Court Martial whilst in South Africa - once for quitting his post whilst on active service, and the other for sleeping at his post when on active service. He was discharged at Netley on 9 December 1902. With copied service papers and copied roll extracts.
