A good ‘Battle of Britain’ Spitfire Pilot’s casualty group of three to Flight Lieutenant L. C. Withall, No. 152 Squadron, Royal Air Force

Flight Lieutenant Latham Carr Withall was born in Canberra, Australia in 1911. He joined the R.A.F. on a short service commission in October 1936. He was posted to 8 F.T.S. on 16 January 1937 and joined No. 19 Squadron at Duxford on the 7th of August that same year. In October 1939 Withall was transferred to No. 152 Squadron as a Flight Commander. He failed to return from combat with enemy aircraft South of the Isle of Wight on 12 August 1940, in Spitfire P9456. He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
