Five: Lieutenant H. Grew, King’s Royal Rifle Corps, killed in action at Ypres in July 1915

Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 4 clasps, Relief of Kimberley, Paardeberg, Driefontein, Transvaal (625 Corpl., K.R.R.C.); King’s South Africa, 2 clasps (625 Sergt., K.R.R.C.) rank corrected; 1914-15 Star (2.Lieut., K.R. Rif. C.); Victory Medal (2.Lieut.); Delhi Durbar 1911 (Col. Sgt., 4th K.R.R.C.) the first two with contact marks, nearly very fine, otherwise good very fine (5) £140-160

Hubert Grew served in the ranks of the King’s Royal Rifle Corps from 3 January 1898. He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the regiment in March 1915, and attached to the 7th Battalion. He was killed in action while serving with that battalion, at Ypres, on 2 July 1915, and is buried in Bedford House Cemetery at Zillebeke. Sold with copy service papers and a large War Office correspondence file.
