Afghanistan 1878-80, no clasp (Major, R.E.); India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Hazara 1891 (Coll., R.E.) both medals with official corrections, otherwise extremely fine (2) £250-300

Colonel Augustus Le Messurier served as Assistant Field Engineer with the Okamundel Field Force in 1859, and was present at the sieges of forts Beyt and Dwarka (no medals awarded for these late operations). He served in the Abyssinian campaign as head of the Water Supply Departments to the Army. He organised the watering arrangements at each post and accompanied the advanced force to Magdala, being present at the action of Arogee, and amongst the first who entered Magdala (mentioned in despatches, Medal). In the Afghan campaign of 1879-80, he served as Brigade Major Royal Engineers, and was present in the engagement at Saif-u-deen (Brevet of Lt.Colonel, and Medal). He was promoted to Colonel in March 1885, awarded the C.I.E. in 1886, and served in the Hazara Expedition of 1891 (Medal with clasp). Colonel Le Messurier died on 19 February 1916.
