Distinguished Conduct Medal, V.R. (Corpl., 90th Lt. I..); Crimea 1854-55, 1 clasp, Sebastopol (3146 Corp., 90th Lt. Inf.) engraved naming; Turkish Crimea 1855, Sardinian issue, unnamed, the first two with edge bruising and contact marks, otherwise nearly very fine, the last good very fine (3) £600-800

Richard Kinning was born in the Parish of Mary-le-bone, London, and attested for the 90th Light Infantry at Westminster on 13 June 1853, aged 17 years 8 months. He was severely wounded on 9 July 1855, and awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal (Medal ordered 23 June 1856) and £5 gratuity. He was discharged unfit for further service on 22 January 1856, his papers noting ‘loss of right ear & right arm at shoulder joint, the latter by amputation, from the bursting of one of our own shells on 10 July. He also received at same time a slight wound of left index finger, the motion of which is impaired. Also on 2nd May a shell wound on outer part of left thigh, producing no material injury.’
