An Impressive Illuminated Address Presented to Colonel Henry Fludyer, Scots Guards, four sides on vellum, intricately hand coloured, including gold leaf, the title page ‘An address presented to Colonel Henry Fludyer of the Scots Guards on his return from the Egyptian Campaign’, the following three sides comprising ‘We the undersigned (Inhabitants of Uppingham) desire sincerely to congratulate you Colonel H. Fludyer, on your return from active service abroad. The manner in which you and your companions in arms have performed the duty assigned to you has been the admiration of the whole civilized world, and we are proud to think that a member of your much respected family has had the opportunity of serving his Queen and Country in this distinguished campaign. We beg to inform you that we fully sympathized with your revered parents, Sir J. B. and Lady Fludyer in their natural anxiety on you behalf, and it was to us a very great pleasure as we watched each telegram to know that through the providence of God your valued life was spared. We trust that in future it may be your good fortune to add yet further distinction to your honourable name, a name held in the highest esteem in this neighbourhood by reason of the stirling virtue and exemplary character of the members of your family.’, contained in its attractive red leather tooled and gilded binding, very good condition £150-200

Colonel Henry Fludyer was present at the actions of Magfar, Tel el-Maskhuta, and Tel el-Kebir. He was entitled to the Egypt Medal, clasp, Tel el-Kebir; and the Khedive’s Star.
