Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 4 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, S.A. 1901, S.A. 1902 (36762 Pte. D. Noble, Lovat’s Scouts) last three clasps loose on ribbon as issued, extremely fine £140-180

Severely wounded at Spitzkop, near Quaagersfontein, on the night of 20 September 1901, when their camp was attacked by a band of Boers under Kritzinger. The Boers charged into the sleeping camp and shot down officers and men as they struggled out of their blankets. Among the Lovat’s Scouts killed were the Colonel, Hon. Andrew Murray, and his brother, Captain Hon. E. O. Murray; 48 others were killed or wounded and one field-gun captured.
