Joseph Green was born at Portsmouth, Hampshire, on 14 July 1824. He entered the Navy as a Boy 2nd Class aboard H.M.S. Queen on 10 October 1841, and served subsequently in H.M. Ships Formidable, St Vincent, Carysfort, Hastings, Dolphin, and Victory. A period in Portsmouth Dockyard, June to December 1857, was followed by further service at sea aboard Curacoa, Vindictive, Narcissus and Asia. He gained his Medal and Gratuity whilst in Narcissus on 29 July 1864, and was finally discharged from Asia on 9 February 1879. Sold with copied service records.
