1914 Star (7638 Pte., 2/Dns.); British War and Victory Medals (D-7638 Pte., 2-Dns.); Memorial Plaque (William Mitchell) this last pierced at 3 and 6 o’clock, extremely fine (4) £400-450

William Mitchell was born in Pittemween, Fife, and enlisted at Linlithgow. Serving with the 2nd Dragoons (Scots Greys), he died of wounds in France on 29 September 1914. He was buried in the St. Nazaire (Toutes-Aides) Cemetery.
