Martin Peter Dodd was born in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, on 23 March 1977. He attested for the Royal Marines on 7 July 1997. Serving with 45 Commando Group, June 1998-January 2003, initially as a Marine 2nd Class, being promoted to Marine 1st Class in July 1998. With 45 Commando, he served in Afghanistan (Operation Veritas). Marine Dodd was discharged after giving 12 months notice on 27 January 2003.
