India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Jowaki 1877-8 (868 Pte. James Campbell, 2/9th Foot) slight edge bruise, good very fine £160-200

James Campbell was born in Edgeworth Town, Co. Longford. A labourer by occupation, he attested for the army at Aldershot on 16 May 1873, aged 21 years. Posted initially to the 103rd Foot, he was transferred to the 2nd Battalion 9th Foot in October 1874. With the regiment he served in India, October 1874-April 1880; Gibraltar, May-December 1884, and India, December 1884-December 1888, being discharged in the latter month. With copied service papers in folder.
