Five: Private G. R. Jones, Royal Army Medical Corps

1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star, clasp, France and Germany; Africa Star; Italy Star; War Medal 1939-45, together with British Red Cross Society Badge, with ‘County of Surrey’ suspension, the reverse officially inscribed, ‘38145 G. R. Jones’, extremely fine and a rare example of the award of the Atlantic Star to a military recipient (6) £60-80

George Ronald Jones, a native of Guildford, Surrey, was born in June 1911, and enlisted in the Royal Army Medical Corps at Aldershot in October 1939. Subsequently appointed a Medical Orderly, he was actively employed on hospital ships and carriers, among them the Dinard.

Sold with a quantity of original documentation, including the recipient’s Soldier’s Service and Pay Book, Certified Copy of Attestation, certificate confirming entitlement to the above described campaign awards and an identity card issued aboard the hospital carrier
