Pair: Private Berti Levi Hildred, Royal Marine Light Infantry, who died of wounds suffered in the Zeebrugge Raid

Berti Levi Hildred was born on Upton-on-Severn, Upton, Worcestershire on 21 September 1897. A Factory Hand by occupation, he enlisted into the Royal Marines at London on 2 February 1915. After training at Deal, he was posted to the Chatham Division of the R.M.L.I. With them he served in the attack on Zeebrugge, 22/23 April 1918 and was wounded. He died of his wounds on 20 May 1918, aged 17 years. He was buried in the Woodlands Cemetery, Gillingham. He was the son of Harold and Elizabeth Hildred of White Cottage, Reginald Road, Northwood, Middlesex. With copied service papers.
