William George Poynter was born in Islington, Middlesex, lived in Maida Hill, and enlisted at Hampstead. Serving with the 1st Battalion Rifle Brigade, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 12 October 1917. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
