James Curran was born in Old Monkland, Lanarkshire, lived in Larkhall and enlisted at Hamilton. Serving with the 6/7th Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers, he died on 31 July 1917. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.

Charles Curran was born in Tunglam, Kirkcudbrightshire, lived in Lockerbie and enlisted at Dumfries. He initially served as Private 20519 with the Royal Scots Fusiliers. Serving with the 11th Battalion Cameronians (Scottish Rifles), he died of wounds, Salonika, on 27 November 1916. He was buried in Sarigol Military Cemetery, Kriston. He was the son of Mr & Mrs James Curran of Tinwald House, Tinwald, Dumfries.
