William Thomas Smith was born and lived in Eastbourne, Sussex and enlisted at Southwark, Middlesex. Serving with the 5th Battalion Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 25 September 1915. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
