James Clarkson was born in and enlisted at Govan, Glasgow. Serving in the 6th Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers, he was killed in action, in Flanders, on 8 April 1916, aged 23 years. He was buried in the London Rifle Brigade Cemetery, Comines-Warneton, Hainaut, Belgium. He was the son of Elizabeth Clarkson of 102 Aitkenhead Road, Govanhill, Glasgow, and the late James Clarkson.
