Tom Green was born in Manchester. He attested for the Territorial Force at Manchester on 10 February 1909, aged 18 years, 5 months. With the 1/8th Battalion Manchester Regiment, he served in Egypt, 10 September-18 October 1914; Cyprus, 19 October 1914-17 January 1915, and Egypt, 18 January-22 September 1915. He was wounded in the face whilst serving in the Dardanelles, 4 June 1915 and was invalided to Malta and thence to England. He later served in France with the 2nd Battalion Manchester Regiment and was wounded in the thigh on 6 November 1918. With copied service papers and m.i.c.
