James Preedy was born, lived and enlisted at Godalming, Surrey. Serving with the 1/5th Battalion Queen’s (Royal West Surrey) Regiment, he was killed in action in Mesopotamia on 29 April 1916, aged 21 years. He was buried in the Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery. He was the son of William and Louisa Preedy of Hutmore, Godalming, Surrey.
