Skipper John Slater of H.M. Trawler Thomas Cornwall, drowned on 29 October 1918, aged 29 years. He was the son of William and Jessie Slater of 2 Fountain Street, Banff and husband of Elizabeth Thomson Slater of 22 High Shore, Macduff, Banffshire. The trawler was sunk in a collision off Flamborough Head.
