James Carr was born in Downpatrick, Co. Down and enlisted at Downpatrick. Serving in the 2nd Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 26 August 1914, aged 33 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the La Ferte-sous-Jouarre Memorial, Seine-et-Marne, France. He was the son of William and Annie Carr of John Street, Downpatrick.
