Pair: Major Henry Crawley, 20th Regiment

Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Sebastopol (Major, 20th Regt.) contemporary engraved naming; Turkish Crimea 1855, British issue, unnamed, plugged and with swivel straight bar suspension, good very fine (2) £260-300

Henry Crawley was born at Fermoy on 16 June 1811. He was commissioned an Ensign in the 20th Regiment on 11 October 1827. He was promoted to Lieutenant in June 1830, appointed Adjutant in January 1838, promoted to Captain in October 1843 and to Major in May 1855. With his regiment he served in the operations against Sebastopol, 10 December 1854-16 July 1855. Major Crawley retired on Full Pay on 16 October 1855. Lieutenant-Colonel Crawley died at 8 Belvedere Terrace, Brighton, on 12 April 1895.
