A pair of medals awarded to Captain Richard F. Church, United States Naval Reserve

Defense Meritorious Service Medal, unnamed, with miniature dress medal, riband and lapel bars, in case of issue; Navy Commendation Medal, unnamed, with miniature dress medal, riband and lapel bars, in case of issue; together with a U.S. Pacific Command Presentation Plaque, wooden shield, 235 x 210mm., bearing a brass ‘Pacific Command’ emblem and a metal label inscribed, ‘Capt. Richard F. Church, Crisis Action Team Chief Commander U.S. Pacific Command, 1 Oct. 1983-31 November 1985’; also with recipient’s identity disk stamped, ‘Church, Richard F. 615159 USNR A Episcopal’, complete with chain, medals extremely fine (6) £140-180

Captain Richard F. Church, U.S.N.R., served on Destroyers and Submarines in the U.S. Pacific Fleet. He was qualified for command of Submarines and Destroyers. His last duty assignment was Crisis Action Chief at the headquarters of the Commander in Chief, U.S. Forces, Pacific, Pearl Habour, Hawaii, in 1985.

The two medals with certificates of award, both given in December 1985, that of the Defense Meritorious Service Medal signed by Admiral Ronald Hayes, U.S.N., Commander of all U.S. Forces in the Pacific Theatre, 1984; this medal also with a forwarding letter, signed by Major-General R. T. Trundy, U.S.M.C., dated 7 February 1986. Together with a portrait photograph of Captain Church, U.S.N.R., in uniform wearing all his medals and insignia.
