Memorial Plaque 1914-18 (2) (John Thurland Vickers; Alfred Vickers) good very fine (2) £60-80

Able Seaman John Thurland Vickers, Nelson Battalion, R.N. Division, R.N.V.R. died/was killed on 29 October 1917. He was buried in the Dozingham Military Cemetery, Poperinge, Belgium. He was the son of Mr Vickers of 40 Clarke Street, Northampton.

2nd Lieutenant Alfred Vickers, No. 56 Squadron, R.A.F. was killed in action on 7 September 1918. At 07.20 on 7 September, over Haynecourt, in combat with enemy aircraft, his S.E.5a was seen spiralling down from 10,000 feet with an enemy in pursuit. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Arras Flying Services Memorial.
