Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., V.R., wide suspension (John Beaton, Boats. Mate, H.M.S. Ganges, 22 Yrs.), engraved naming, edge bruising and contact marks, good fine £380-420

John Beaton, who entered the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class in September 1823, was present in the Syria operations of 1840 as a Boatswain’s Mate aboard H.M.S. Rodney and in the Baltic operations as a Quarter Master in the Boscawen. Beaton received his L.S. & G.C. Medal in January 1852 - and his Naval General Service Medal for Syria is extant; sold with copied research.
