Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., Anchor obverse (George Radford, Blacksmith, H.M.S. Vindictive, 22 Years), fitted with double ring suspension, edge bruising, otherwise very fine £800-1000

George Radford entered the Royal Navy in May 1821 and served as an Armourer aboard H.M.S. Tamar in the Ava operations 1824-26. Having then been appointed Blacksmith in April 1839, he was pensioned ashore from the Vindictive in July 1844, in which month he was also awarded his “Anchor” L.S. & G.C. Medal - one of just nine such examples known to Blacksmiths; sold with copied research.
