Hong Kong Plague 1894, silver issue (Private J. Vale, S.L.I.) very fine £1000-1200

James Vale was born in St. Martins, Birmingham. A Polisher by occupation and a member of the 4th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment Militia, he attested for the Shropshire Light Infantry at Selly Oak on 27 October 1892, aged 18 years, 9 months. With the 1st Battalion he served firstly in Hong Kong, December 1893-December 1894 and then in India, December 1894-November 1904. being transferred to the 2nd Battalion in January 1903. Private Vale was transferred to the Army Reserve in June 1903 and was discharged on 29 November 1904. With copied service papers.
