Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, undated reverse, 1 clasp, The Nile 1884-85 (2536 Drumr. J. Auden, 1/Rl. Ir. Regt.) edge bruising, pitting, good fine £100-140

John Phillip Auden was born in Brixton, London. He attested for the Infantry on 21 February 1880, aged 15 years, 4 months. Serving with the 1st Battalion Royal Irish Regiment, firstly as a Boy Private and then as a Drummer, February 1882-January 1888, he saw service in India, October 1881-September 1884, and Egypt and Sudan, September 1884-September 1885. For his services he was awarded the Egypt Medal with clasp and Khedive’s Star. As a Private he was discharged at Curragh Camp on 20 February 1892 having completed his first period of limited engagement. With copied service papers.
