Thomas Hughes was born in Wrexham. A Collier by occupation, he attested for the Cheshire Regiment at Chester on 2 July 1885. aged 19 years. With the regiment he served in India, October 1884-October 1887 and Burma, November 1887-February 1889. Hughes was transferred to the Army Reserve in July 1890 and discharged as time expired on 1 July 1895. With copied service papers and roll extracts.
