Crimea 1854-56, 3 clasps, Alma, Inkermann, Sebastopol (J. Gaskin, 88th Regt.) officially impressed naming, contact marks, therefore nearly very fine £500-600

John Gaskin was born at Ballenkinnis, Co. Carlow, and enlisted into the 30th Regiment at Carlow on 3 January 1850. He served with the 30th in the Crimea, volunteered and transferred to the 88th Regiment on 1 June 1857, served during the Indian Mutiny, and was finally discharged at Gosport on 2 January 1871, having completed 21 years. Sold with copy discharge papers which confirm Crimean and Indian Mutiny medals and further record that he was ‘Severely wounded at the battle of Inkermann on 5th November 1854. Slightly wounded in the hand and side 27 November 1857.’
