In 1843 Samuel William Hall was recorded as being the Barrack Master at Fort Beaufort, Cape of Good Hope. Hall served with the 73rd Regiment during part of the 2nd Kaffir War in 1847 and was Barrack Master of British Kaffraria during the 3rd Kaffir War, 1852-53. Commissioned in June 1851, he was appointed Principal Barrack Master, Southern District, in July 1878. He was appointed to the Commissariat and Transport Staff in January 1880. Hall died as Honorary Commissary General on Retired Pay, Commissariat and Transport Staff, Southsea, on 20 April 1886. With copied research.
