Albert E. Taylor transferred to the 6th (Renfrewshire) Battalion, Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders in September 1939, in the rank of Warrant Officer 1st Class, and served in that capacity in the B.E.F. in France and Belgium from November 1939 until June 1940. Subsequently commissioned in the Royal Army Pay Corps, he was advanced to Captain in October 1949 and, following service in the Malaya operations, was placed on the Retired List.
