Waterloo 1815 (Corp. Rob. Thompson, 2nd or R.N. Brit. Reg. Drag.) fitted with replacement ring and silver bar suspension, overall heavy contact wear, polished and worn £3000-3500

Robert Thompson was born at Blantyre, Lanarkshire, in about 1793, and enlisted at Glasgow for the 2nd Dragoons on 1 November 1803, receiving a levy payment of £4-9-0d. He was promoted to Corporal on 25 April 1815 and was present at Waterloo in Captain Fenton’s No 6 Troop, one of the troops that suffered most heavily at Waterloo. Thompson was reduced in rank once more to Private on 8 November 1815 and served a further eleven years until his discharge to pension at Edinburgh Castle on 30 October 1826, being unfit for further service.
