WORLD ART MEDALS France, Nériede, a large oval cast bronze medallion in high relief, unsigned, c. 1845 (?), 110 x 129mm (cf Gailhouste 456). Extremely fine, with a lovely glossy chocolate patina, very rare (£120-150)

This image, with some slight differences, appears on a French jeton of 1845 by Caqué. Whether this impressive piece precedes the jeton, or whether it was made by Caqué or produced somewhat later is not known at present.
