Coin Postcards, An extensive collection of coloured embossed coin postcards (793), mostly printed in Germany c. 1900-10 but some from other countries, depicting a wide range of then current coins, including issues of Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, USA, South Africa, Venezuela, Cambodia, China, Japan, etc [793]. Generally very fine, some used as postcards, an exceptional group; contained in 14 albums £2,000-3,000

Provenance: R. Harrod Collection.

One only illustrated, reduced. This group, believed to be the largest of its kind ever offered at auction, was formed over 25 years from a variety of sources and dwarfs that put together by Larry Stack and auctioned last year (Stack’s, 3 September 2008). Many were produced in Germany by Hugo Semmler of Magdeburg, Max Heimbrecht of Berlin and Walter Erhard of Waiblingen, and in Austria by Alfred Blumer of Vienna, though others in this collection were produced in India and elsewhere. Most of the postcards are of uniform size (9.3 x 5.2 cm). Viewing is strongly advised
