The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, O.B.E. (Military) Officer’s 2nd type breast badge; Air Force Cross, G.VI.R., reverse officially dated ‘1943’; 1939-45 Star; Defence and War Medals, M.I.D. oak leaf; Air Efficiency Award, G.VI.R., 1st issue (Act. Sqn. Ldr. R. J. B. Pearse, R.A.F.V.R.), good very fine (6) £1600-1800

O.B.E. London Gazette 1 January 1946.

A.F.C. London Gazette 2 June 1943. The original recommendation states:

‘This accomplished pilot, who has a large experience of flying instruction, has given most valuable service as an instructor at this outstanding training unit. His devotion to duty is outstanding and he can always be relied upon to give his best. His work and the results he has achieved have been an inspiration to instructors and trainees alike.’

Richard John Bennett Pearse was serving at No. 17 Operational Training Unit of Fighter Command at the time of the above cited deeds; sold with a copy photograph believed to be of the recipient.
