Bremner); France, ‘L’Armée a ses Infirmières’ Medal, silver, obverse: Nurse; reverse: inscribed, ‘Bremner M.’, mounted as worn; together with Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve Cape Badge, silver, unnamed; State Registered Nurse Badge, silver and enamel, reverse inscribed, ‘G. Bremner, S.R.N.9309 27.10.22’, pin-backed; British Red Cross Society, County of Somerset Badge, enamelled, unnamed, pin-backed; London Nurses Co-operation Badge, enamelled, reverse impressed, ‘1901’ and ‘306’; I.C.N. Mary Gertrude Bremner trained as a Nurse at the Cardiff Infirmary, 1895-98 and in 1901 became a member of Princess Christian’s Army Nursing Service Reserve, which in 1908 became Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve. During the Great War she served with the British Red Cross Society and the Nursing Reserve in France, Belgium and Ireland. Latterly living in Kettering, she died in 1946 aged 84 years.

Sold with the recipient’s Cardiff Infirmary, Certificate of Training, 27 April 1898; Army Nursing Service Reserve Membership Certificate, 10 April 1901, with original envelope addressed to her at the Station Hospital, Fermoy; B.R.C.S. & O. of St. J.J. Certificate for valuable services rendered during the war (torn); Last Will and Testament, dated 1937; Power of Attorney Document, dated 1944; newspaper cutting with obituary; three photographs, and an armband bearing a crossed ‘A’ cypher. Medals in glass-fronted case - this not suitable for posting.
