A good regimental pattern levee mameluke for an officer of the 15th (The King’s) Hussars, the 83cm flat solid-section blade back-edged for the last 30cm, by Hawkes & Co, London, Manufacturers to the Queen, etched with regimental device of a crown within a sunburst surmounting the legend ‘King’s Hussars’ within panels, ornate cast and chased copper-gilt cross-guard of regimental pattern chased with floral scales, the quillons terminating in acanthus sprays, back-strap chased with repeat foliate patterns, ivory grip plaques cut with decoration of regimental pattern, set with gilt rosettes, complete with its correct pattern gilt bullion and crimson striped sword-knot, the ornate copper-gilt scabbard engraved overall with foliate patterns, the open panels exposing the wood liners covered with black shagreen, two hanging rings, gilding a little polished otherwise in good condition overall £1200-1500
