Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., V.R., narrow suspension (Willm. Green, Caps. Coxn., H.M.S. Rocket) very fine £80-100

William Green was born in St. Just, Cornwall on 11 June 1852. He entered the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class on 30 May 1868, being advanced to Boy 1st Class in May 1869, Ordinary Seaman in July 1870 and Able Seaman in February 1873, all when serving on the Scylla. When serving on the Resistance he was advanced to Leading Seaman in May 1877 and Petty Officer 1st Class when on the Liffey in April 1878. When serving on the Rocket, May 1879-June 1883, he was awarded the Long Service Medal. After service on the Raven, October 1886-February 1890, he was posted to Vivid (Devonport). He was ‘discharged dead’ on 8 May 1890. Sold with copied service papers.
