Kenneth Johnstone Shorey was admitted to the H.A.C. in 1917, serving in ‘B’ Battery. With the 2nd Battalion H.A.C. and Royal Sussex Regiment he served overseas in the Great War, and was made a prisoner-of-war in Italy. In 1926 he rejoined the ‘B’ Battery H.A.C. For his long service he was awarded the Efficiency Medal (Territorial), notified in A.O. 107 of May 1938. In the Second World War, as a B.S.M. in the R.A.O.C., he was granted a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery on 2 December 1940. He was promoted to War Substantive Lieutenant in December 1941, Acting Captain in July 1942, and Temporary Captain in July 1943. He was demobilised at the end of the war. In civil life he was the Managing Director of E. H. Shorey Ltd., Wholesale Tobacconists, of Acton and Palmers Green. He died on 5 February 1954. Sold with copied research.
