George Henry Wiles joined the Territorial Army in about 1922. As a Sergeant in the R.A.M.C. (T.A.) he was awarded the Efficiency Medal by A.O. 39 of February 1934 and as a Warrant Officer Class 2 he was awarded the clasp by A.O. 208 of November 1940. Wiles was subsequently a Quartermaster Sergeant. In September 1941 Q.M.S. Wiles was granted a commission as a Lieutenant (Q.M.) in the R.A.M.C. He was promoted to a War Substantive Captain in September 1944 and was granted the honorary rank of Captain when released at the end of the war. Continuing to serve in the T.A. after the war, Captain Wiles was awarded the Efficiency Decoration in 1953, this published in the London Gazette of 1 December 1953. Sold with copied research.
