Medal and clasps confirmed for service aboard H.M.S. Rodney. 209 officially impressed medals issued with these two clasps, including 94 to H.M.S. Rodney.

Thomas Russell was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, and was a wool comber by trade when he enlisted at Bradford on 23 November 1847, aged 19 years 4 months. He was discharged in May 1869 having completed 21 years and having ‘served in the operations in the Black Sea during the years 1854 & 1855 has the Crimean Medal & two Clasps (Balaklava & Sebastopol) and Turkish Medal. Has been awarded the Medal for good conduct and long service in H.M.S. Excellent without gratuity.’ He was at that time ‘in possession of five Good Conduct Badges the last awarded 7 December 1868.’ Sold with copy discharge papers.
