Percy Hefford was Second Officer on board the S.S. Lusitania and was drowned on 7 May 1915, aged 34, when the Cunard liner was torpedoed by the German submarine U20 off the Old Head of Kinsale, sinking in 15 minutes with the loss of 1198 lives. He was the senior member of the Bridge staff to drown.
