British War and Victory Medals (438 A.Cpl., Household Bn.); Italy, War Cross; together with Bronze Memorial Plaque (Ernest Frederick Hawthorne), medals and plaque displayed on an unusual freestanding display stand, consisting of two upright cast rifles, the stand with old repair, generally nearly extremely fine (4) £80-120

Acting Corporal Ernest Frederick Hawthorne was born in St. Albans, Hertfordshire and lived at Hatfield, Hertfordshire. He originally served with the 2nd Life Guards before transferring to the Household Battalion with whom he was killed in action France and Flanders 25 August 1917. He is buried at Roeux British Cemetery, France. The Italian War Cross requires varification.
