The Great War pair awarded to Lieutenant G. H. Allison, No. 2 Squadron, Royal Air Force, who was shot down in April 1918 whilst on line patrol

British War and Victory Medals (Lieut., R.A.F.), good very fine or better £50-70

Lieutenant George Henry Allison was commissioned from the ranks of the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry into the Royal Flying Corps in November 1917. Whilst piloting a plane on 15 April 1918 that was on line patrol over Chocques, he encountered heavy anti-aircraft fire and his fuel tank and radiator were both hit. As a result he was forced to land his machine, this he did successfully with no injury to either himself or the Observer. Sold with 6 copied pages of research detail which show him as having continued with the R.A.F. through to 1936, when he relinquished his commission on completion of his period of service.
